Crafting At The Weekend Launch Day

At last!!  Crafting At The Weekend launches today!!

My first project for this new challenge blog is a project that I have had in mind since buying my Silhouette last summer!  We moved house in March last year and have been (very slowly) decorating and modernising the house.  The living room was the first room to have paint inflicted on it, as it was a gaudy yellow (as is most of the downstairs!) , and just wasn’t a room you could relax in!  So, I attacked it with several layers of Dulux Buttercream to keep it light and fresh, but without the need for sunglasses.  Finally, a year on, the room has a lovely bespoke cast iron curtain pole, curtains, sofas that fit and some furniture and I’m down to the little touches to finish it off!  Which is where my project comes in….

I recently received a freebie butterfly cut file from the Silhouette Online store, which I have adapted slightly.  Now, instead of cutting the butterflies out completely, the middles are uncut which allowed me to pop the wings forward and give the butterflies more depth.  I chose to cut the butterflies from a piece of aqua Bazzill cardstock that was leftover after a wedding commission last year – it has a lovely, but subtle texture to it and cuts easily.  Finally, I popped it in a Ribba box frame from Ikea, and hung it on the wall!

I hope to see your papercraft creations over at Crafting At The Weekend – it’s a month long challenge, so you’ve got plenty of time to get crafting and using up your stash!

I’d like to enter this project into the following challenges:

  1. This is so elegant and classy I love it. I’m off to Ikea today so I might need to case this project for my own versions xx

  2. Hi Victoria, This is utterly stunning. Love all the Butterflies. Thank you for being part of our new venture.

    Hugs Erin x
