Spooky Sentimental Sundays!

It’s time for our spooky new challenge over at Sentimental Sundays!  We’re so lucky to be sponsored by Drawn With Character this week and our theme is “Too Cute To Spook”.

I used this adorable little ghostie to make a Halloween tag to attach to a bag of treats for Halloween.

The image was coloured with ProMarkers, with excessive Stickles on the sentiment!!  The papers for the tag are both from Polkadoodles – I love the variety of papers included in the collection, and, being digital papers, they’re sooo versatile as well (and they don’t take up space in the cupboard!!).  Happy Halloween everyone!!

Barmaid Box Card

A month or so ago, I posted a pub in a box card, featuring a hunky barman, mixing some drinks!  Well, today I have a variation on the theme to share with you – today, there’s an attractive barmaid pulling pints!!

I was asked to replicate the barman card, with a busty barmaid instead, for a friend’s uncle who will be turning 50 later this month.  After having a look around, I discovered Nancy Brew by The Stamping Chef – she was perfect for the job!!

I coloured her with ProMarkers, building shadows by layering the colours.  As my friend’s uncle is Irish, I thought it might be nice to stick to emerald for the barmaid’s uniform, with lovely red hair!!  The main box card was cut by the Silhouette; I welded Nancy’s outline to the centre layer and cut the shape from cardstock, and stuck the coloured image over the top.  All of the barmats were created and personalised in the Silhouette software.  The edges of the mats were distressed with various colours of Distress Ink.

As before, the tasteful pub wallpaper was from a freebie file from the StarSunflower Studio – available in several colourways, but the brown and cream just screamed pub to me!!

New Challenge At Crafting From The Heart

This week’s challenge at Crafting From The Heart put me a little out of my comfort zone, if I’m honest!! I am not a big fan of Halloween and all things spooky, but I hope you like what I came up with!

We are sponsored by Delicious Doodles and Angie’s Digi Images and, as usual, our theme is Anything Goes!

So here’s my project:

Looks pretty boring, doesn’t it??!!  Have a look at a couple more photos…

I decided to make a small pyramid treat box, using a file from the Silhouette Store, then popped my image, Reptile Eye available from Delicious Doodles, on the inside to spook!  The base of the pyramid is just 6cm square, so they’re the perfect size to be handed out as little party favours at any Halloween get-together!  I’m planning on filling mine with some little chocolate eyeballs that I spotted in the supermarket last week 🙂

Don’t forget to pop over to Crafting From The Heart to see what the rest of the team have put together for you!

Mouse Memories

Today’s card is for a lucky lady who has been working at Disney for the past year!  To celebrate her 21st birthday, I was asked to create a Disney-inspired card, and this is what I came up with!

mickey 21 birthday card full

The elements of the card are all from the Mouse Memories cut file available from Miss Kate Cuttables.  These were all cut from cardstock or glitter card using the Silhouette and then mounted on several coloured mats.  Some of the individual elements were also popped up on 3D pads to create depth in the card.

Rugby Player Birthday Card

Today’s card features a cute rugby player digital stamp from Polkadoodles!  Nikky’s Work and Play collection features many little characters dressed for work or play including nursing, racing driver and footballer.

This card was made specially for a little boy who plays rugby in his spare time – and I have to admit, I haven’t seen many other rugby player images on my travels!  These images are available for instant download in the Polkadoodles store, or you can buy the whole collection on a CD (the rugby player is on Work and Play 6).

I’ve coloured the image with ProMarkers as usual (see below for a full list).  The image was printed and cut on the Silhouette, allowing me to pop him up on 3D pads, amongst the layers of grass.  The background was created with some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and a cloud shaped mask.  The rugby posts in the background were just cut on the Silhouette to help add depth to the image.

Pop over to the Polkadoodle Digiworld Store now to grab yourself a little rugby player, or a checkout girl, or ballerina or doctor….the list is endless (…well, nearly endless, anyway!).

Bling, Bling!

It’s time for a new challenge at Sentimental Sundays!  The theme this week is sure to catch your eye – we’re asking you to Bling It Up!  We have a fabulous new sponsor for this challenge too, Ppinkydolls!

I haven’t used one of the Ppinkydolls images before, but I am really pleased with the end result!  Although I’m not 100% happy with the way the butterfly wings came out, I was so pleased with the skin and hair that there was no way I was starting again!!  Hubby even asked if it was a pre-coloured image, so it can’t be that bad!!

The image was coloured with ProMarkers and mounted on an easel card.  To bling it up, I coated the butterfly’s wings in Wink of Stella and a little Stickles.  I also added some Liquid Pearls to the middles of the scallops and to the detail of the butterfly’s wings.  The stopper for the easel card is an old button, dipped in blue micro glitter; it really sparkles!!

Can you guess the theme of today’s card?!  Frozen fever has taken over, my friends!!

KEIRA BIRTHDAY CARD FULL

This card features the Snow Princess cut file from Miss Kate Cuttables, standing alongside her very own snow storm (or glittery shaker aperture, as it might also be known!).  The file from Miss Kate Cuttables was so easy to use; absolutely everything you see on the figure is included, except the Wink of Stella I couldn’t resist adding to the dress….

To make the snowflake aperture, I simply enlarged a snowflake and cut from a piece of white cardstock, which I then covered with a piece of acetate..  I then cut a slightly bigger snowflake shape from a piece of white craft foam, and attached it to the back of the white cardstock.  Next came the fun part – I added lots of pearly sequins and chunky, sparkly glitter and secured a metallic blue piece of cardstock over the aperture to stop the sparkles escaping 🙂

KEIRA BIRTHDAY CARD flat

The whole topper was mounted onto another metallic blue cardstock layer, which was adhered to the cardbase.  The snow princess took her place and the card was personalised for the birthday girl, using Bazzill Glitter cardstock and the Silhouette.

Hmmmmmm, I fancy a good sing-a-long now!!

New Challenge At Crafting From The Heart

I’m back again to remind you that it’s new challenge day at Crafting From The Heart!  We’re excited to be sponsored by Lacy Sunshine and Sassy Design Studios, and as always, Anything Goes!

I used Melanie Boo Little Christmas Star by Lacy Sunshine for my card.  I can see the months slipping by without many Christmas cards being made, so thought I’d best get cracking!

crafting from the heart 29 sept 14

I’ve coloured the image with ProMarkers, added a touch of Glossy Accents and some Wink of Stella, and then mounted the image on a mat of red American Crafts cardstock.  The background papers are both from the 1st Edition Christmas Joy collection, which has been luring in my stash for a couple of years!

New Challenge At Crafting At The Weekend

Well, that month flew by!!  Hard to believe that we were getting ready for a bank holiday weekend last time I posted for Crafting At The Weekend!  Today, the summer is definitely fading fast, the mornings are crisper and the evenings are starting to get dark much earlier.  And, as of this week, I’m home alone all day, now that my youngest is in school full time!  Why is it then, that I have less time to get inky, rather than more?!!

Anyway, on to this month’s card, which I only just about finished in time!!

catw 28 sept 14

I forced myself to raid my stash for this card!  And then I went a step further and made myself open the gorgeous set of Tiddly Inks stamps that came free with Quick Cards magazine during the summer 🙂

catw 28 sept 14 close

This is just one of the adorable little images; I have coloured Wryn with ProMarkers and some Stickles for the fluffy edging of her hat and dress.  All the papers are from my stash, the spotty one is from the Papermania Spots and Stripes collection, but I’m not sure about the others!

The sentiment is a clear stamp I picked up from one of the bargain bins in Hobbycraft!  I think I’ve had it lurking, unopened, for around 18 months……shame on me!!  It’s held in place by a plait of jute threads – I had great ideas for this piece of jute, but now I finally have a piece, I’m struggling to use it on my cards!!  So I figured that introducing it a little at a time might help me overcome my block 🙂

catw 28 sept 14 flat

Right, all that’s left for me to do is remind you that the Crafting At The Weekend challenge will be running for a month, the theme is Anything Goes and we have some great prizes from Ditzie Crafts and Aurella 27 up for grabs!!

Spooky Polkadoodles!

It’s time for my next Polkadoodles post!  This time, I’d like to introduce you to a blood-thirsty little chap!!  This is Dracula; he’s available for you to download immediately in the Polkadoodles store.

For my project this week, I have made a gift bag – I thought that might come in more handy than a card!  I have coloured Dracula using ProMarkers as usual, although I haven’t actually used any black – I stuck to the Cool Greys to make up the shading as I find I prefer the results this way!  For the red areas, I have used Lipstick Red, Berry Red and Crimson, with a touch of Cool Grey 4 in the areas I wanted to darken a little more.

dracula gift bag full

The creepy tree is one of the fabulous pre-coloured images that you can also get from Polkadoodles – I have simply opened in Silhouette, resized it, then print and cut the image.  The sentiment is also a pre-coloured item – it was orginally part of a journal page, which I have cut out using the Silhouette software, and then used the print and cut function again.  These are just two of the gorgeous images included in the Witchie Witchie download bundle!!

The cobwebs are my own handiwork….just a little doodling fun!
