When I Grow Up….

This week’s challenge over at Sentimental Sundays is all about what you’d like to be when you grow up!  Our sponsor, PolkaDoodles, offered us three images to choose from; I stayed girly and picked the ballerina, and popped her into a card based around the current sketch challenge over at Try Stampin On Tuesday (see below for sketch).

The image was coloured with ProMarkers and lots of Candy Floss and Star Dust Stickles, and popped into a Kraft frame which I edged lightly with silver Brilliance ink.  To give the impression of daydreaming, I chose to emboss the panel behind the image with the Clouds folder by Darice, smudging my pink chalk VersaMagic ink from the bottom to the top of the panel to highlight the clouds.  I used the same technique on the heart embossed banner, while the second banner just had the ink pulled across, without any embossing!  The panel and both the banners were mounted on Kraft.  The sentiment in the top right was cut from some bubblegum pink glitter cardstock by the Silhouette.

Clean And Simple

Join the new Clean and Simple challenge at Sentimental Sundays!  Our new challenge starts today and is sponsored by 2CuteInk stamps – possible the cutest stamps I have ever seen 🙂

The DT were offered a choice of three stamps for this challenge (I’m glad I didn’t actually have to make a decision from the whole collection, I never would have been ready on time for this post!!).  I chose to use Balloon Birdie, and could see the card before I even put ink to paper 🙂

I love clean and simple designs, they really are my happy place!  I knew that I wanted to pop this cute little birdie on a cloudy sky background, but wanted to keep the number of layers down.  So I traced and detached the image in the Silhouette software, which allowed me to pop him into a centre panel background with blue sky and fluffy white clouds.  when I printed the image, I just had to colour the birdie and balloon using Pro-Markers.  I wanted to create a little depth, so I printed another copy of the bird’s body and the balloon, then coloured them and added it to the card with 3D pads, along with another layer of clouds cut from a hammered card for texture.

For the base mat, I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the Darice clouds folder and popped this layer behind the main centre panel.  The sentiment was simply printed onto white card and mounted on a layer coloured in with a Crimson Pro-Marker to match the balloon.

Is Clean and Simple a style you love or hate? Style does tend to divide opinions!  Either way, whether in or out of your comfort zone, make sure you head over to Sentimental Sundays for a peek at the other DT creations and share your CAS makes with us – don’t forget the sentiment!

Who’s The Em-Boss?!

Embossing is the new theme over at Sentimental Sundays this week!  Whether it’s dry embossing or heat embossing, we’d love to see how you incorporate it into your projects for this week’s link-up.

The challenge is sponsored by The Cutting Cafe; they kindly offered the DT two files to use in their projects this week – I chose to use the Rain, Rain, Go Away set, which comes with so many different elements!

For my card, I chose the gorgeous Wellie boots and the cute sentiment.  I made the rainbow in the Silhouette software by adding several offset layers to build up the colours, and then overlaid the sentiment before printing and cutting the image.  The boots and puddle were cut by the Silhouette and coloured with Pro-Markers.  I added touches of Crystal Stickles and Glossy Accents to the boot and puddles to add a little detail.

Now, I hadn’t forgotten that the theme was embossing!  I chose a square of dove grey cardstock and dry embossed it by running the Darice Clouds folder through my Cuttlebug – it doesn’t show so well in the main picture, but it is easier to pick out on the photo below.  Perfect grey cloudy sky backdrop for my lovely bright rainbow!!

What will you emboss on your card?  I could do with some ideas of how to get the most out of heat embossing – I have the tools, but just don’t seem to get it right.  But dry embossing….now you’re talking!!  Can’t wait to see your projects in the link-up!

Final GDT Post at C…Is For Challenge

Today I’m sharing the card I made for my final challenge as GDT for Anna at C…Is For Challenge.  The theme for this challenge is Ornaments – my thoughts are turning to decorating the Christmas tree already!

C is for hallenge GDT Stitchy Bear

I’ve loosely borrowed From The Heart Sketch’s Sketch 42, as the layout reminded me of three baubles (or ornaments…see where I’m going with this??!!).  The image is from the Stitchy Bear Stamp Outlet; I coloured it with Promarkers and added some red glitter for the baubles on the tree and a little Stickles to the ribbon on the box.  The stripy paper is from a much depleted Trimcraft Christmas set – it was my last sheet of the stripes, I’ve been hiding it in my stash for far too long!  I cut the glittercard frames using the Silhouette, and embossed some white cardstock with the Darice Snowflakes folder, using the Cuttlebug.

I’d like to thank Anna for the chance to be a GDT over at C…Is For Challenge – I’ve enjoyed being part of her team and wish her every success in the future!
