Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside…!

This week’s card for Sentimental Sundays had me running for my bucket and spade!  I used Three Little Summer Girls by All Dressed Up, coloured with ProMarkers and cut on the Silhouette, leaving an offset border.

For the background, I used a stamp from the Beach Images Set by Handmade Harbour, which I won a while back but haven’t had a chance to use.  I kept the colouring on the background quite simple, as I wanted the focus of the card to be the little ADU cuties, so I used a dark shade at the point where the horizon meets the sea and again where the sea meets the sand and just blended the darker shade into the lighter area to soften the lines.

The papers are all from the DoCrafts Ahoy There collection, with a little Bazzill cardstock for the frame and aqua mat.  Finally, a little birthday sentiment, printed directly onto vellum and held in place with a couple of co-ordinating brads.

Anything Goes In The Crafty Girls Challenge

I can’t believe it’s Thursday already…  The weeks seem to be flying by at the minute!

Today’s post is for the new Crafty Girls Challenge.  This fortnight we’re sponsored by A Day For Daisies and Aurora Wings and the theme is “Anything Goes”, so a nice and easy one to join in with.

I chose “Babies Smile” from A Day For Daisies.  The image simply reminded me of the early days with my children; I remember feeling like I couldn’t look away, just in case I missed something!  Nowadays, if I look away, trouble usually follows 😉

I coloured the image with ProMarkers, keeping to a very simple palette, then popped the frame (from the Silhouette store) over the top.  The embossed background was created by embossing the Swiss Dots folder onto some linen marked card.  The striped paper is from a Docrafts paper stack.  Finally, two little white, flower shaped buttons with some pink and white twine tied through.
