Let’s Celebrate Joyfully!!

I had a shop around earlier this week to find a cute little girl for my daughter’s 5th birthday card earlier this week.  It didn’t take long to stumble across Emma, the character in Tiddly Inks Celebrate Joyfully stamp.  I have a very soft spot for adorable images, and Tiddly Inks images are just that!!

Unusually for a girly 5th birthday card, I haven’t chosen a pink or purple colour scheme – Erin’s favourite colour is yellow (as she announced as I was halfway through decorating her bedroom pink recently….), so, using Pro Markers, I have coloured Emma’s dress in yellow, as well as using a hair colour that is very similar to my daughter’s.

The lemon and peach papers are by American Crafts, and have a lovely texture.  I added a little Scattered Straw Distress Ink around the edge of the lemon to add some definition.  The base layer is from the Snippets collection by Studio Calico.  The banner was a file from the Silhouette store, popped up on 3D pads for extra depth.

I couldn’t resist adding the cute little patch of flowers to the inside of the card, on a mat of yellow and white polka paper from the Papermania Spots and Stripes Brights stack, which matches the die-cut flowers I made for the front of the card.

All in all, it’s a card I know Erin will love!  And if you find yourself in need of a spot of retail therapy, head over to the Tiddly Inks store…you won’t regret it 😉

Now there is also the not so little matter of a DT call over at Tiddly Inks.  I have just had a peek at all the fabulous applications so far – and I’m quaking in my boots!  But, as the saying goes, nothing ventured, nothing gained…!

Easter Celebrations With Kitty Bee

Our Easter themed challenge is beginning today over at Kitty Bee’s Aloha Friday Challenge.  We were sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamp Outlet for this challenge; I chose Easter Bouquet by Stitchy Stamps because the daffodils and hidden eggs are exactly what I hope to see on Easter morning!

I coloured the flowers with Pro-Markers, but faux paper pieced the eggs to draw in some of the other colours from the paper stack (Harper Finch’s It’s Easter Solids) that I used for the mats and frames.

The layout is based around the current sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2, and I’ll be hopping over there later today to link up to the challenge!

Jellypark Guest Designer

Happy Friday everyone!  Looks like the brighter days are finally here…for a week or two at least!

I’m really excited to share the card I made for my Guest Designer spot over at Jellypark.  I was thrilled to be asked to join them for a challenge as I love their cute, versatile images!  For example, when I planned this card in my head, it was going to be an Easter card.  Although the design was still basically the same when I finished, it is now a card to celebrate the arrival of a first grandchild…my point is, that the image works beautifully for either occasion!

The theme for this challenge over at Jellypark is “Pretty Pastels” and I was delighted to use this cute little bunny stamp.  I coloured the image using Pro-Markers, after adding a little faux stitched border in the Silhouette software.  I also cut an extra daisy to pop up on her ear and create a little extra depth.  The papers are from the Papermania Spots and Stripes Pastels collection, backed on some green textured card from the First Edition Summer Breeze stack.  The spotty mat, arched sentiment and the image were popped up on 3D pads to add some extra height.  A couple of some daisy buttons from my stash finished it off nicely!

Mesmerising…..

I have my card for the new Crafting From The Heart challenge to share with you today.  As always, you can choose to play Anything Goes or to use our theme, which is “Flowers” this fortnight.  (Little confession…I forgot about the theme!  I got carried away!) We are very lucky to be sponsored by Aurora Wings and MelJens Designs – I chose to use the beautiful Princess of the Sea for my card, as I fell totally under her spell, and couldn’t look away!

I have to be honest, as beautiful as I find these images, I wasn’t rushing to work with one.  They are so intricately designed, that I couldn’t myself sitting still long enough to focus on colouring one, let alone presenting it in a style that suited it!  I thought these captivating images were about as far away from my comfort zone as possible!!  So, in the spirit of trying new things this year, I set myself the challenge!  And here she is, all coloured and simply presented…

I used ProMarkers to colour the image.  Unfortunately, it took three attempts, due to a very juicy marker leaking all over the almost completed image twice (you’d think I’d have learnt after the first accident…!).  My original attempts both had blonde hair, but I’m glad I swapped to brown for the final version as it makes the shells easier to distinguish.  Once coloured, I added Glossy Accents to some of the larger water bubbles and Star Dust Stickles to some of the shells, smaller bubbles and the Princess’s eyelids.

I cut the frame on the Silhouette using a pearlescent pale gold card, and popped the image behind.  I added a bow, with two little starfish (that have been hiding in my stash for at least 5 years!) sewn to the centre.

Make sure you head over to Crafting From The Heart to add your creations to the challenge!

Annie’s Pressie

This afternoon’s card has been made for a little girl who will be turning 7 later this week.

I’ve used Annie’s Pressie from Tiddly Inks, coloured her with Pro-Markers and added touches of pink candyfloss Stickles to the spots on her bow, dress and the present.

Sticking to a spotty theme, I embossed some white cardstock with the Swiss Dots folder.  There is a piece of spotty vellum behind the white mat and the final layer is a big spot paper from the Papermania Spots and Stripes Pastel Collection.

The flowers embellishments at the corner were made using an assortment of petal punches, finished with a bead in the centre.  The little pink flower gems were from my stash!

I based the card around the first sketch challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 (the successor the great Sweet Sketch Wednesday):
