Glittery Thanks

Today I have the penultimate thank you card for this year’s end of term!  Feels like I have been making thank you cards and gifts for weeks….

As my regular readers may have worked out by now, I love my glitter card!  The Silhouette has only made me love it more – offsetting a word cut from a gorgeous glitter cardstock is such a simple but effective way of highlighting the sentiment on the card.  For this card, I have used a purple cardstock and glitter card, mounted over a circle aperture, with dry embossed vellum mounted behind it.  I added a couple of sequins with gems to catch the light and draw the eye…

That’s it for today, short and sweet so I can get on with my final thank you card – deadline is Wednesday!

Posh Frock Box Card

Just a quick post today, lots to get done today!

Box cards are proving very popular around here!!  Today’s card was a custom order – I have used a template from the Silhouette store, but have altered it to feature a fabulous dress, some gorgeous shoes and the perfect handbag!

I’ve kept to a simple, classic black and white colour scheme, with a few touches of silver and lots of gems for extra sparkle!  The dress, shoes and bag were all cut by the Silhouette; I added a black belt to the dress, lots of Glossy Accents to the shoes and lots of gems all round!  The papers are all from the Dovecraft Back II Basics paper stack.

The sentiment was printed directly onto cardstock, backed with a black mat and edged in silver by lightly smudging Dew Drop Brilliance Ink in Starlight Silver with a dauber.

Anything Goes With A Digi

Over at One Stitch At A Time, we’re just launching this week’s challenge.  The theme this week is Anything Goes With A Digi, so it couldn’t be simpler for you to play along!

My card this week features A New Place by Hope Jacare.  I like the whimsical style of the image, and really enjoyed colouring the different areas of the earth and sea in varying shades of blue and green.  I used Pro-Markers as usual – was pleased I stocked up on fine nibs attachments earlier in the month, they came in very handy!  Once coloured, I mounted the image on a blue cardstock, layered over another piece of the same card, embossed with Swiss Dots, and a slim strip of white card that I dragged my Tumbled Glass Distress Ink pad over.

On the card base, I scored some additional lines at the top and bottom to create a little more detail on a relatively simple card.  Lastly, I added some gems in two shades of blue for little sparkle!

A Birthday Card For A Special Lady…

Our challenge this week at Sentimental Sundays is “Birthday Cards For A Special Woman (using pastel colours)”.  We were really lucky to be sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps for this challenge; I had a tough time choosing, but finally decided on “Dottie Celebrate” as the card I had in mind needed a fabulous image!!

I coloured Dottie using Pro-Markers in pastel lilac shades, keeping her hair blonde too.  The sentiment was printed at the same time as the image, with the exception of “fabulous” which I welded and cut from glittercard on the Silhouette, using the Grand Hotel font.  A few touches of Stickles and a few little gems for sparkle and the main panel of the card was complete.

Next, I cut a border from a sheet of Sienna glittered vellum by Papermania, attached them to the top and bottom of the main panel and laid it over two strips of lilac cardstock, using 3D pads for a bit of height.

A(bi) for Ava

In amongst all the hustle and bustle of preparing for Christmas every year, my friends from my NCT class back in 2006 are all celebrating their eldest children’s birthdays – and this weekend is no different as it’s Ava’s turn!

Today’s card features a little ballerina that I am very fond of…Abi!  Abi is one of the sweet collection of stamps available from All Dressed Up (and she’s a freebie at the moment too!).  I’m also playing along with the current sketch challenge over at From The Heart Stamps, where this week’s layout looks like this:

FTHS 44

And here is my completed card:

I have used a plain baby pink cardstock for the base of the frame, overlaying with a piece of Sienna glitter vellum by Docrafts.  Abi was coloured with Pro-Markers and a little sparkle, courtesy of a little Stickles.  The banner behind the framed image is cut from two layers of shimmery Centura Pearl cardstock (although it’s not easy to see in the photos), the bottom layer is a raspberry colour, and the top layer is an iced pink.  Final touches of a piece of ribbon and some little pink gems, both from my stash, and the card is ready to be written and posted off!

Wintry Snow Globe

Hi everyone!  I’m excited to share with you today my first DT card for the Crafty Girls Challenge 🙂  The theme is for this challenge is “Anything Goes”, so it’s the perfect challenge to showcase all your Christmas projects!  Our lovely sponsors for this challenge are MilkCoffee and Floppy Latte.

The snow globe image is by Floppy Latte – it’s the first time I have used one of their stamps, but most definitely won’t be the last!!  I really enjoyed keeping this card in cool, pastel, wintry shades – it may have helped that it was also the first morning we had to de-ice the car before we could drive to school!!  I used Pro-Markers to colour the image, choosing light fresh colours and then making them even paler by drawing ink from the chisel end of the coloured markers onto the bullet nib of the blender and diluting the colour down a little further.  For the fresh snow on the ground, I used a Tea Green Pro-Marker around the “edges” of the snow and again, blended it further.  Star Dust Stickles gave my snowy scene a crisp, sparkly finish.  I added the sentiment to the base of the globe as it felt too crowded anywhere else.  The sentiment is a peel-off sticker from the Forever Friends Christmas set – I usually avoid peel-offs as I’m not a big fan, but I liked the way I could easily adjust the letters to follow the slight curve of the snowglobe.

The  background papers are from an old Forever Friends Christmas paper stack and I added little Stickles dots to the centre of the snowflakes, so that it catches the light, even on the gloomiest of days!  I borrowed the layout from Sketch 42 at From The Heart Stamps; I liked the way the two circular cuts of background paper echoed the snowglobe’s shape and the colour I chose for the sky.  Finally, a little strip of narrow satin ribbon and a few gems as the finishing touches!

I’m sure you’re right in the middle of some amazing Christmas creations – why not head over the the Crafty Girls Challenge and show us!  Don’t forget to take a peek at the other amazing DT projects while you’re there!
