Thumbs Up!

Happy 4th July!!

It’s time for a new challenge over at Kitty Bee’s Aloha Friday – we’re very fortunate to be sponsored by Kenny K this fortnight, and our theme is, of course, Stars and/or Stripes!

I chose to use “Thumbs Up Kid” for my DT project this month – I won this image a few months back, but just haven’t had a chance to out it to use yet, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

I’ve coloured the image with Pro-Markers – I love the clear, easy lines of this cartoon style image, it really was a pleasure to colour!  Using the Silhouette, I’ve cut the image out, leaving a narrow border all the way around.  The background is a starburst paper by Megan Turnidge – for the moment, it’s my go-to background paper for boys’ cards!  I’m hoping you can make out the stripes in the background, unfortunately they haven’t photographed too well.

The sentiment and age were both printed directly onto yellow cardstock, then cut and layered, using the Silhouette.

Kitty Bee’s New Baby Challenge

Well, I’m back!!  The only reminder of the warm weather is my “barely there” tan – as a freckly red-head, I tend to look like I haven’t been away!!

I’m sharing my DT make for the new challenge over at Kitty Bee’s Aloha Friday Challenge, where the theme is New Baby or Congratulations.  We were lucky to be sponsored by A Day For Daisies, and I chose to use Blankie for my tag – this gorgeous image reminded so much of bathtime with my little ones 🙂

I coloured the image with Pro-Markers, then mounted the image on several layers of aqua and white card.  I have lightly distressed the edges of some of the layers, using the Tim Holz Distress Tool – I tend to keep things so crisp, that I struggled to rough up the edges on the layers!  The stripy layer is made using some washi tape, which I have had hiding at the back of my drawer for a while.  The sentiment was printed directly onto a piece of vellum and attached using a couple of brads.

I look forward to seeing all your gorgeous creations – don’t forget that as it can be either New Baby or Congratulations, you’re bound to make something you can share with us!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Warning: today’s post is thoroughly Valentine’s themed…sorry if you’ve sworn off romance for this year 😉

Over at Kitty Bee’s Aloha Friday Challenge, our new challenge theme is “Use Red Or Pink As A Primary Colour” and we were very lucky to be sponsored by MelJen Designs this fortnight.

I couldn’t resist this Lil Love Devil!  After all, he needs a lot of red, our challege is live on Valentine’s Day and ….. he’s toooo cute!  However, as I had already made a card for Valentine, I decided to use the image to make a little sweet treat holder for my husband!

To begin with, I printed and cut the image on the Silhouette, and then cut a sun shape from red mirror card to mount behind.  I coloured the image using Pro-Markers, using a selection of Warm Greys to create the shading, then adding Ruby over the top.  I chose a sun shape for the rear mat as it reminded me a little of flames….the perfect environment for this little devil!

Then I moved on to create the pillow gift box.  Using a template from the Silhouette store, I used the Silhouette Studio software to replicate the image and fill the whole page with tiny little devils, which I then printed directly to the card I was cutting the template from.  This is how it looks close up:

Once it was printed and cut, I popped it together with a little double sided tape, and attached the larger devil tag to the front of it. Finally, I filled it with chocolate hearts 🙂

I’m sure you have plenty of red or pink themed cards on your craft desk right now, why don’t you pop over and link up with our challenge!

I’d like to enter this chocolate gift box into the following challenges:

Brown Sugar – Use Die Cut or Punch (sun mat and pillow gift box are both cut on electric die cut machine)

Cut It Up – Valentines

DigiHaven – Valentines

JellyPark Friends – Chcocolate and/or Cake
