Football Themed Birthday Card

I’m back today with my latest make for the Polkadoodles’ DigiQueens! I’ve chosen to use this cute little footballer, available as an instant download from the Polkadoodles DigiWorld store, on a card for my friend’s football-crazy son….wonder if you can guess which team he supports?!!

The image was coloured with Promarkers – I was stuck for a moment when it came to colouring in the famous claret stripes on the West Ham kit, but after a little playing around with my markers, I found that Purple and Ruby blend together to a reasonable claret ūüôā

As for the rest of the card, I kept it fairly simple – the football is a cutfile from the Silhouette store, I created the sentiment myself in the Silhouette software and the mat was simply embossed using a chevron folder!

Christmas Hollibobs With Polkadoodles

Time for my next Polkadoodles post!!  This fortnight, I have a little Christmas card to share with you, using Santa by Polkadoodles, available now as an instant download!

After printing and cutting the image with the Silhouette, I coloured this little chap using ProMarkers. ¬†When I started colouring last year, I remember being so intimidated bold colours like ¬†the red I used for this image – 12 months on and I’m quite chuffed with the end result!

polkadoodles 21 oct 14 fullThe sentiment and patterned papers are all from the Festive Hollibobs collection, so they co-ordinate with each other really well.  The holly uses a cutfile from the Silhouette store РI simply dragged one of the gorgeous papers into the Silhouette software to fill the shapes, before cutting and printing.  I love the way the paper resizes to fill the shape you have  added it to Рin this case, the berries are filled with the same paper as the spotty background and the leaves are filled with the same paper in a different colourway, but as the pattern has resized automatically, the colours appear deeper.  So versatile!!

Rugby Player Birthday Card

Today’s card features a cute rugby player digital stamp from Polkadoodles! ¬†Nikky’s Work and Play collection features many¬†little characters dressed for work or play including nursing, racing driver and footballer.

This card was made specially for a little boy who plays rugby in his spare time – and I have to admit, I haven’t seen many other rugby player images on my travels! ¬†These images are available for instant download in the Polkadoodles store, or you can buy the whole collection on a CD (the rugby player is on Work and Play 6).

I’ve coloured the image with ProMarkers as usual (see below for a full list). ¬†The image was printed and cut on the Silhouette, allowing me to pop him up on 3D pads, amongst the layers of grass. ¬†The background was created with some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and a cloud shaped mask. ¬†The rugby posts in the background were just cut on the Silhouette to help add depth to the image.

Pop over to the Polkadoodle Digiworld Store now to grab yourself a little rugby player, or a checkout girl, or ballerina or doctor….the list is endless (…well, nearly endless, anyway!).

Spooky Polkadoodles!

It’s time for my next Polkadoodles post! ¬†This time, I’d like to introduce you to a blood-thirsty little chap!! ¬†This is Dracula;¬†he’s available for you to download immediately in the Polkadoodles store.

For my project this week, I have made a gift bag – I thought that might come in more handy than a card! ¬†I have coloured Dracula using ProMarkers as usual, although I haven’t actually used any black – I stuck to the Cool Greys to make up the shading as I find I prefer the results this way! ¬†For the red areas, I have used Lipstick Red, Berry Red and Crimson, with a touch of Cool Grey 4 in the areas I wanted to darken a little more.

The creepy tree is one of the fabulous pre-coloured images that you can also get from Polkadoodles РI have simply opened in Silhouette, resized it, then print and cut the image.  The sentiment is also a pre-coloured item Рit was orginally part of a journal page, which I have cut out using the Silhouette software, and then used the print and cut function again.  These are just two of the gorgeous images included in the Witchie Witchie download bundle!!

The cobwebs are my own handiwork….just a little doodling fun!

A Cautionary Tale…..

I’ve spent most of the afternoon colouring a gorgeous little Emily, a new digi available now in the Polkadoodles digi store! ¬†Isn’t she cute? ¬†I love the splodges of cupcake mix in her hair ūüôā

She is coloured using ProMarkers – I’m having a bit of a pink day today!! ¬†For the bow, I printed the image onto a scrap of Bazzill polka dot card, cut it out and mounted it on small 3D pads to create some more depth. ¬†I used the pink ProMarkers to give some subtle texture to the fabric of the bow too.

I sat back to check her over and make sure I’d coloured the image all in, then took a photo of the finished image to see how the shading was looking….and then disaster struck!! ¬†I’d forgotten that I had a glass of orange squash on my desk, caught it with my arm and knocked it over ūüė¶ ¬†Poor little Emily nearly needed armbands…….! ¬†I’m thanking my lucky stars that I avoided my Cameo, computer and printer!

I’ve rescued Emily, and for now, she’s drying out on some kitchen roll – I’m trying to be positive and hoping that my hard work won’t have been wasted – maybe I’ll be able to salvage the image by fussy cutting? ¬†Who knows, only time will tell….

I’ve learnt my lesson – in future, I’ll be keeping my drinks well away from my crafting!

New Bear On The Block!

There’s a new bear in town over at Polkadoodles HQ!! ¬†The latest CD, featuring Winston and Etty, crammed full of adorable images, gorgeous papers (including some delicious Kraft papers!) and all the embellishments and bows you could ask for, launched on Create and Craft this weekend. ¬†There are even some decoupage design sheets to try your hand at!!

As usual, the images are such good quality that they can be enlarged to suit your project, and the papers are so easy to print on your home printer – even at standard/normal quality settings they print perfectly.

Here’s my sample:

Everything you see on the card is from the new Winston CD collection!  Even the buttons, and the fabric style sentiment!  The only extra thing I did was to add a little Glossy Accents and twine to the buttons, after cutting them on the Silhouette.

I hope you won’t just take my word for it – head over to the Polkadoodles store and order your copy now – it’s such good value, you won’t be disappointed!!

Aud Sentiments – For The Men In Our Lives

My First Post For Polkadoodles!

Remember my sneaky peek for a week or so ago…?

dollie lantern sneak peek

Well, it’s time to share the whole card with you today!

There is such a lot of choice in the Polkadoodles digi store that I almost struggled to make a decision on which one to pick first!!  But then a gorgeous background paper caught my eye, and the rest of the card came together soooo easily!!

polkadoodles 9 sep 14 full

I chose the Lantern image from the Dollie Goes East collection.  In order to avoid having any white border showing around the fabulous Dollie, I merged her with the background paper, before printing and cutting on the Silhouette РI put a little offset border around her so that I could work out where to place her back on the image once she was coloured.  I love the way this has made her become part of the scene, whilst at the same time making her stand out against the background.

polkadoodles 9 sep 14

I coloured Dollie with ProMarkers, and added a light coat of clear Wink of Stella to the dress and her eye shadow – so sparkly!!

polkadoodles 9 sep 14 sparkly

The papers and sentiment are also from the Dollie Goes East collection; it is so easy to find a co-ordinating paper from the amazing range of colours available Рthe hard part is narrowing it don to just one!!
