Christmas Is Just Around The Corner….!

As if you need reminding, Christmas is literally just around the corner now!!  I’m pleased to say I think I’ve pretty much finished my shopping, time to start wrapping 🙂

I’m here to share my card for the new challenge at Sentimental Sundays – we’ve got a nice and easy “Anything Goes” theme for you this week, so you really have no excuse not to join along!!  Not only that, but we’re sponsored by A Random Fan this week, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to miss the chance to win some really cute digis!

I’ve used Christmas Decor for my card this week – cute Christmassy penguins are definitely a soft spot for me!!  The image was coloured with ProMarkers and mounted on co-ordinating mats, with a simple Christmas sentiment.

Easel Does it…!

Time for a new challenge at Sentimental Sundays, and this week we’re looking for your easel cards!!

Our sponsor this week was Sami Stamps (excuse me, while I do my happy dance!).  I chose Dad’s Side Kick for my card as I couldn’t wait to pop this little fella on his own skyline!

I toyed with the idea of getting all creative and trying a twisted easel card, but time was against me a little this week, so I played it safe and just made a straight easel card.  Looking at how my card turned out, I’m not sure it would have worked as a twisted easel anyway, so it’s all good!

I coloured Dad’s Side Kick in with ProMarkers, after printing and cutting the image on the Silhouette.  The background papers are both from White Fox Graphics on Etsy; I used the trace option in the Silhouette software to allow me to cut out the skyline so the cloudy sky could show through.

The sentiment was simply printed directly onto the card, and clear embossed.  I’ve popped it on some 3D tape to allow it to act as the stopper for the card too.  The contrasting green ribbon at the bottom is by American Crafts.

Easel cards make a great change – both to make and to receive!  I used to be a little wary as I thought they would be complicated, but a quick Google search later proved me wrong!  Have a go, I bet you’ll be glad you did!

Make A Wish….

Today I have a little cutie by Art By Miran to share with you.  Over at Crafting From The Heart, we were very lucky to be sponsored by both Art By Miran and SNS for this challenge.  As I’ve had this little fairy hiding on my desk, I thought it would be the perfect time to pop her on a card!

I’ve kept the card nice and simple, using AC coloured cardstock to create depth.  I printed the stars and sparkles directly to the top layer, and then added two layers of Star Dust Stickles once it was in place on the card.  The sentiment is part of a Samantha Walker file from the Silhouette store, cut from matching cardstock and coated with a touch of Stickles (must remember to order a Wink Of Stella pen….!).

The image was printed and cut using the Silhouette, then popped up on 3D pads.  She was coloured with Pro-Markers (the magenta blend pack accidentally found its way into my basket on a trip to TK Maxx last week….oops!) and finished with a little Stickles sparkle too.

Thumbs Up!

Happy 4th July!!

It’s time for a new challenge over at Kitty Bee’s Aloha Friday – we’re very fortunate to be sponsored by Kenny K this fortnight, and our theme is, of course, Stars and/or Stripes!

I chose to use “Thumbs Up Kid” for my DT project this month – I won this image a few months back, but just haven’t had a chance to out it to use yet, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

I’ve coloured the image with Pro-Markers – I love the clear, easy lines of this cartoon style image, it really was a pleasure to colour!  Using the Silhouette, I’ve cut the image out, leaving a narrow border all the way around.  The background is a starburst paper by Megan Turnidge – for the moment, it’s my go-to background paper for boys’ cards!  I’m hoping you can make out the stripes in the background, unfortunately they haven’t photographed too well.

The sentiment and age were both printed directly onto yellow cardstock, then cut and layered, using the Silhouette.

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside…!

This week’s card for Sentimental Sundays had me running for my bucket and spade!  I used Three Little Summer Girls by All Dressed Up, coloured with ProMarkers and cut on the Silhouette, leaving an offset border.

For the background, I used a stamp from the Beach Images Set by Handmade Harbour, which I won a while back but haven’t had a chance to use.  I kept the colouring on the background quite simple, as I wanted the focus of the card to be the little ADU cuties, so I used a dark shade at the point where the horizon meets the sea and again where the sea meets the sand and just blended the darker shade into the lighter area to soften the lines.

The papers are all from the DoCrafts Ahoy There collection, with a little Bazzill cardstock for the frame and aqua mat.  Finally, a little birthday sentiment, printed directly onto vellum and held in place with a couple of co-ordinating brads.
