Red, White and Blue!

Over at Sentimental Sundays this week, we’re looking for lots of red, white and blue in your projects!!

We are sponsored by The Doodle Garden; they have such cute images, and this Little Sailor Boy is no exception!  I coloured him with ProMarkers, and then used some blue cardstock as a mat.  The other papers all come from the DoCrafts Ahoy There stack (which has proven to be a great bargain buy recently!).

For the sentiment, I cut the letters three times on the Silhouette; once from blue cardstock and twice from a heavier cardstock, then simply glued the layers altogether to create some lovely, chunky letters!

Tulip Umbrella

This morning I have my DT card for the new Crafting From The Heart Challenge to share with you.  This fortnight we are sponsored by Dilly Beans and StampArt Designs by Kathryne.  Now, I can imagine, that given my recent declaration of love for Dilly Beans, you are expecting to see a Dilly Beans stamp on my card this week…..well, you’d be mistaken!!  As you may have gathered from the none-to-subtle post title, I’ve used Tulip Umbrella by Kathryn at Stampart Designs for my card this week, because I love red tulips and this cute little umbrella was just so tempting!! I’ve also been lucky enough to use another of Kathryne’s designs before Christmas, and I really like her style.  As usual, we have an optional theme of “Use Red” in your projects this week too, however, if you’d prefer not to stick to a theme, then anything goes…

I coloured the image using Pro-Markers – I was wary of using too much bold red for the tulips, so I used Carmine, along with a little Ruby and Crimson for shading and texture.  I added Glossy Accents to the tulips so that they looked glossy in comparison to the rest of the image.  I cut the oval shape on the Silhouette, adding the stitched border at this point too.

The papers are all from my stash – scraps and offcuts that have no names I’m afraid.  I added a little Swiss Dots embossing to the white strip.  Both the background papers and the image were mounted on 3D pads before being attached to the card.

Lastly, the sentiment was printed directly on to the cardstock base, using the Alex Brush font.

Make sure you head over to Crafting From The Heart to see what my team-mates have been up to this fortnight!  I look forward to seeing all your red themed (or not!) projects!!  Also, don’t forget that we’re “upgrading” to a weekly challenge from 3rd March….twice the fun!

I’d like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Digi Darla – Your Own Style

Love To Create – Birthday/Anniversary

Pumpkin /spice Blog – White, Pink, Red

New Challenge at One Stitch At A Time

Happy Sunday everyone!  Isn’t it time you took a break from Christmas preparations and put the kettle on?  And while you’re enjoying that coffee (or tea, if you prefer!), why not pop over to One Stitch At A Time and have a quick peek at the DT creations for this week’s challenge?  And then, when you get some crafty time later on, you’ll be able to pop back and share your new projects in our challenge.  Don’t forget, the theme is “Seeing Red” (how easy is that, weeks before Christmas!) and the top prize is 3 Pro-Markers, courtesy of Creative Craftworld who are sponsoring the challenge this week.

Look forward to seeing your red projects!
