Christmas Is Just Around The Corner….!

As if you need reminding, Christmas is literally just around the corner now!!  I’m pleased to say I think I’ve pretty much finished my shopping, time to start wrapping 🙂

I’m here to share my card for the new challenge at Sentimental Sundays – we’ve got a nice and easy “Anything Goes” theme for you this week, so you really have no excuse not to join along!!  Not only that, but we’re sponsored by A Random Fan this week, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to miss the chance to win some really cute digis!

I’ve used Christmas Decor for my card this week – cute Christmassy penguins are definitely a soft spot for me!!  The image was coloured with ProMarkers and mounted on co-ordinating mats, with a simple Christmas sentiment.

Where Did November Go??!!

Today’s post is all about the new challenge over at Sentimental Sundays!  We have been sponsored by 2 Cute Ink and our new theme is “Heartfelt Thanks“.

Before I carry on though, I need to apologise for going AWOL – I really don’t know what happened to the last three weeks!  I haven’t had much time to craft or blog as we have been having the loft boarded and I’ve also been preparing my bedroom for replastering this week, and then there was my son’s birthday (although I do have some cute projects from his birthday to share with you later this week!)….

Anyway, back to today!  Here’s my card:

I’ve decided to go back to my comfort zone with my projects for a while.  I love CAS – and while I’ve enjoyed developing other areas of my hobby, this is where I craft happiest!  With this in mind, this card is super simple – just the cutest image, coloured with ProMarkers, mounted on a co-ordinating mat….et voila!

As we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK – so my card is just a thank you card, I like to always keep a couple to hand!

Make sure you pop over to Sentimental Sundays and have a peek at the other DT makes – you won’t be disappointed!  And you could also pop over to 2 Cute Ink for a little retail therapy……..why not, eh?!

Distress Inked Paper Flowers

It’s time for a new challenge over at Sentimental Sundays – and this week, our theme is Anything Goes!

My time has been stretched quite thin recently – I’ve taken on a more active role in the family business, my school commitments have increased and I’ve had a lot of DT projects on the go, so it was quite nice to play along with this challenge and just switch off and see what happened!!

What happened was this: messy desk, very inky fingers; snippets of paper everywhere; buttons, brads and thread hanging from every available surface!!  And the result was this lovely flower birthday card….

sentimental sundays 2 nov 14 full

The flowers were cut on the Silhouette from a piece of aqua cardstock and shaded using a mixture of Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feather ink pads.  Some of the petals were embossed with Sea Foam embossing powder (although it wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped, I think it looks OK when the flower is assembled), while I doodled on other petals with a white Jelly Roll pen.  One flower had some silver Brilliance daubed in the middle and on the edges of the petals.

The whole lot was popped together on a doily mat, on top of some Peacock Feather stained card, which in turn was laid on a dry embossed piece of aqua cardstock.

And then it was time to tidy up 😦

Head over to Sentimental Sundays to see how the rest of the DT played along with the challenge!

Spooky Sentimental Sundays!

It’s time for our spooky new challenge over at Sentimental Sundays!  We’re so lucky to be sponsored by Drawn With Character this week and our theme is “Too Cute To Spook”.

I used this adorable little ghostie to make a Halloween tag to attach to a bag of treats for Halloween.

The image was coloured with ProMarkers, with excessive Stickles on the sentiment!!  The papers for the tag are both from Polkadoodles – I love the variety of papers included in the collection, and, being digital papers, they’re sooo versatile as well (and they don’t take up space in the cupboard!!).  Happy Halloween everyone!!

Bling, Bling!

It’s time for a new challenge at Sentimental Sundays!  The theme this week is sure to catch your eye – we’re asking you to Bling It Up!  We have a fabulous new sponsor for this challenge too, Ppinkydolls!

sentimental sundays 5 oct 14 full

I haven’t used one of the Ppinkydolls images before, but I am really pleased with the end result!  Although I’m not 100% happy with the way the butterfly wings came out, I was so pleased with the skin and hair that there was no way I was starting again!!  Hubby even asked if it was a pre-coloured image, so it can’t be that bad!!

sentimental sundays 5 oct 14 close

The image was coloured with ProMarkers and mounted on an easel card.  To bling it up, I coated the butterfly’s wings in Wink of Stella and a little Stickles.  I also added some Liquid Pearls to the middles of the scallops and to the detail of the butterfly’s wings.  The stopper for the easel card is an old button, dipped in blue micro glitter; it really sparkles!!

Easel Does it…!

Time for a new challenge at Sentimental Sundays, and this week we’re looking for your easel cards!!

sentimental sundays 21 sept 14

Our sponsor this week was Sami Stamps (excuse me, while I do my happy dance!).  I chose Dad’s Side Kick for my card as I couldn’t wait to pop this little fella on his own skyline!

sentimental sundays 21 sept close

I toyed with the idea of getting all creative and trying a twisted easel card, but time was against me a little this week, so I played it safe and just made a straight easel card.  Looking at how my card turned out, I’m not sure it would have worked as a twisted easel anyway, so it’s all good!

I coloured Dad’s Side Kick in with ProMarkers, after printing and cutting the image on the Silhouette.  The background papers are both from White Fox Graphics on Etsy; I used the trace option in the Silhouette software to allow me to cut out the skyline so the cloudy sky could show through.

The sentiment was simply printed directly onto the card, and clear embossed.  I’ve popped it on some 3D tape to allow it to act as the stopper for the card too.  The contrasting green ribbon at the bottom is by American Crafts.

Easel cards make a great change – both to make and to receive!  I used to be a little wary as I thought they would be complicated, but a quick Google search later proved me wrong!  Have a go, I bet you’ll be glad you did!

Let’s Go!

This week’s challenge at Sentimental Sundays is all about Vehicles!  We are sponsored by Doodle Pantry – they have some great value packages available; I especially like the pre-coloured images for those days when you just don’t have time to break out the pens!

My sample this week features the Mustang from the Classic Cars 2 collection.  I used the pre-coloured image, along with four of the digital papers included in the set.  As I have Designer Edition of the Silhouette software, I was able to drag the papers straight from the folder to fill my shapes – meaning  I had print and cut all my pieces within about five minutes!!

sentimental sundays 14 sep 14

The wheel is not part of the set – this was made using a wheel cut file from the Silhouette store.  I added the sentiment to the wheel, then print and cut it.  The chrome was from a scrap of adhesive foil that was lurking in my stash!

I’ve based the card around the latest sketch challenge at Techno Stamper – I didn’t even have to take a moment to plan my card out! (How lazy was I??!!)

Shake It, Shake It!!

I’ve had a lot of sticky fun preparing my projects for this weeks’ challenge over at Sentimental Sundays!!  We are sponsored by The Cutting Cafe for this challenge and our theme (if you haven’t guessed already!) is Shaker Cards!!

I have two cards to share with you today – here’s the first one:

sentimental sundays 24 aug 14

I used the butterfly topper cut file for this card.  Although I have made shakers before, I had a quick peek at the handy tutorial video that is available on The Cutting Cafe website and found out it is loads easier (and cheaper) to use foam sheet to raise the panel, rather than double sided foam tape which gets stuck to everything!

I couldn’t bring myself to leave off the cut out butterflies, so I folded them in half to add dimension, and stuck them to the vellum with a little Glossy Accents.  I also like the way I hid the shaker area of the cards a little by doing this!

For the sentiment, I used white embossing powder on a scrap of fuchsia card, popped it up on 3D pads and added a silver brad.

sentimental sundays 24 aug 14 flat

My second card is one for my (tiny) Christmas card pile!  Using the star shaker topper this time, I cut the star from Kraft card and added a little vellum for the panel, instead of acetate, giving a frosted look to the panel.  Inside, I used up some left over sequins and seed beads in shades of gold and yellow.  As the shaker panel is 3D by design, I simply stuck the panel to a slightly larger gold glittercard star and popped it on the card, leaving a couple of points hanging over the edge of the cardbase.

sentimental sundays 24 aug 14 b

The sentiment was printed directly onto a scrap of Kraft card (I love the way this font looks hand stamped!), and a star punched out of the banner.

I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t love a shaker card!!  Take a little time to make one this week, and come over to Sentimental Sundays to share it with us!

I Just Want To Dance!

I’m back with another challenge for Sentimental Sundays!  This week, we are sponsored by Calypso’s Crafty Things – and there’s a fabulous prize for the lucky winner!  The theme for this challenge is “Inside and Out”, another first for me!  I always pay a lot of attention to the front of my cards, but I can’t remember ever continuing the theme inside! FTH Sketch060

I based my card around sketch 60 at From The Heart Sketches.  I love to flick through the old sketches when I’m struggling to pin down a design, it’s just packed full with inspiration! sentimental sundays 10 aug14 full So, the details for my card….  The image I have used is a MilkCoffee freebie from a while back – not sure how I have overlooked her for so long!!  I coloured her using Pro-Markers as usual.  I’ve tried a new hair combo – Ivory, Satin and Tan – and I’m really pleased with the way it’s turned out.  The image on the inside of the card is by Patties Creations.  I’ve coloured the ballet slipper with ProMarkers, then mounted on a lilac mat before popping it inside the card.

sentimental sundays 10 aug14 side

sentimental sundays 10 aug14 inside

To create the frame on the front of the card, I designed a “ring doughnut” shape in the Silhouette software by laying a smaller circle over the larger circle and the subtracting the top shape.  I then welded the letters of my daughter’s name to the outside edge of the doughnut.  The banner pieces were also cut from glitter card on the Silhouette, before being hand stitched to the corrugated card with some matching ribbon.

The papers on the front of the card are from the Papermania Spots and Stripes collection; all the other papers are from my stash.

Make sure you pop over to Sentimental Sundays to see what the rest of the DT have been up to this week!

Christmas In July!

I know, I know, it’s been at least 28c in the South East of England recently!  But to celebrate our return after our summer break, the theme for the new challenge at Sentimental Sundays is ” Christmas in July!”

Our sponsor this week is Zlatoena Designs – and I have to admit that I have never used one of their stamps before….but I reckon I’ll be having a little shopping trip very soon, as I found the images really cute, easy to colour and even easy to paper piece!

sentimental sundays 27 july 14

For this challenge, I used Bunny Snowball Winter – simply coloured with Pro-Markers and a hint of sparkle!  The striped paper is from an old Forever Friends stack that I have in my stash.  The white mat was an offcut of white card, dry embossed with the Darice snowflakes folder.  The sentiment was printed directly onto a piece of card, and edged in blue chalk and silver Brilliance ink to blend with the overall colour scheme.  I cut the snowflakes on the Silhouette, from some glittercard and popped a little gem into the centre .  I am a little obsessed with delicate, yet oversized snowflakes at the moment, so it was lovely to finally make a card I could add one to!

You know it makes good sense to get a head start on your Christmas cards – so you’ve got no good reason not to join our challenge this week!!  Just don’t forget to add a sentiment 🙂
