Vellum Butterfly Wedding Card

Morning everyone!  Another non-DT card from me today….  You may remember that I showed you a thank you card made for my brother to take to South Africa with him next week?  Well, today I have the card I made for him to give to the happy couple whose wedding he is attending there.

Steering well clear of digis, I thought it might be nice to create a memento card for them, with their names and the date of their special day.  I used my Silhouette to cut the names, date and frame from cardstock and a little sparkly vellum.  The names and date were glued directly to the card base, while the frame was popped up on 3D pads for a little extra depth.  The butterfly was created using my Martha Stewart punch – my favourite embellishment for wedding cards and invitations!

The asymmetrical frame tricks the eye a little – I can assure you that the names and date are perfectly centred, but the unusual shape of the frame keeps making me check it…!  It’s been driving me a little bit potty, can you tell?

Best wishes to the happy couple!

2013-09-05 14.25.30Today, I’d like to share a wedding card that I made for a friend who is shortly getting married.  The design of the card is very simple, the hearts were die-cut from red cardstock using a Cuttlebug die.  I added a little glitter to the edge of the hearts, to give it a little sparkle and then threaded the ribbon through to the inside of the card.

As we were giving the newlyweds a gift card towards their honeymoon, I wanted to carry the ribbon and sparkly hearts through to the inside, to enable me to tuck a small envelope in behind it.  This is how the inside looked… (Ooops, bit of a messy desk in the background!)2013-08-03 14.47.46

I will be entering this card into the Anything Goes With Ribbon Challenge over at Crafty Ribbons.
